3/9/2008 Visit

posted by Graham Brooks @ 5:23 am under Trip Reports

I visited the park for the first time this year this past Sunday. My camera stayed in the car as I focused on just riding and spending time with my girlfriend instead, and thanks to pretty nonexistent crowds, riding a lot was quite simple. I also picked up my season pass booklet and parking pass for this season. Overall the booklet contains some good deals on free and cheap tickets at various times throughout the year. Also a pretty interesting coupon for one day that you can get a discount equivalent to your age in one of the park’s shops. I’m also glad to see the parking is printed on the pass this year, not just a sticker that wears off in your wallet.

My totals for the day were:
Goliath: 5
Batman: 2
Mind Bender: 4
Superman: 1
GASM: 2
Dahlonega Mine Train: 1
Canyon Blaster: 1
Georgia Cyclone: 2
Georgia Scorcher: 3
Ninja: 1
Shake, Rattle, & Roll: 3

We stayed at the park from opening until the park closed at 6:00 pm.

I’m not quite sure when I will be making another trip to the park. It will be probably be several weeks since I will be out of town for several consecutive weekends after this one.

2008 Season Approaching

posted by Graham Brooks @ 8:41 am under News

The 2008 Six Flags Over Georgia operating season is quickly approaching as the park opens March 1st. I hope to make it to the park either that Saturday or Sunday. I know the site got pretty much abandoned during the middle of the summer last year. Hopefully that does not turn out to be the case this season, and the site will grow and expand.

Last Weekend

posted by Graham Brooks @ 3:23 pm under Trip Reports

I did make a quick trip to Six Flags this past Sunday morning. Got a couple rides on Goliath, a ride on GASM, and Mindbender before heading out to run a couple errands. I hope to get back to adding new photos to the gallery this week because I still have a ton from previous visits to add.

Trip This Sunday

I plan to make a trip to Six Flags this Sunday after two weeks of not visiting the park. Hopefully crowds will be pretty light like my last visit on a Sunday.

Tickets and Braves

posted by Graham Brooks @ 8:02 am under Commentary

First, I just have a note about the $50 season passes I reported earlier this month: apparently you can still buy them for that rate off of the offical Six Flags website.

In other news, I had some company in town this weekend and did not make it to Six Flags. However, I did go to two Braves games this weekend. As of now, I am quite fed up of the team. One run in five games is simply beyond ridiculous for a decent Major League Baseball team. It seems the whole team has followed Andruw Jones’ cue and decided to go into a major slump. Just needed to say something about their atrocious play, two games of which I sat through.

Back from Busch

posted by Graham Brooks @ 6:48 am under Trip Reports

I was out of town this past weekend as I made a trip down to Florida and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. You can hear about that trip over at my other site, BGTGuide.

As for Six Flags, I won’t be able to make it either Saturday or Sunday due to someone being in town, but I may try to go Friday afternoon/evening for a couple hours after work. I still have a hundred or more photos from my last couple trips to post already.

6/10/2007 Trip Report

posted by Graham Brooks @ 11:28 am under Trip Reports

I was able to finish up at work early, so I decided to head out to Six Flags Over Georgia for a few hours. I arrived at the park about 2:00 pm on a quite hot Sunday. I immediately took out my camera and snapped a few shots as I headed towards the park’s entrance. I noticed Mindbender was down as a mechanic was on top of a section of track. It, however, was open again by the time I had gotten to Gotham to take some photos. One of my first observations was how uncrowded the park was. Most rides that I saw, besides Superman: Ultimate Flight and the water rides, had minuscule lines. I guess the heat kept the park from being too busy. (more…)

Updated: No trip again this weekend?

posted by Graham Brooks @ 3:28 pm under Trip Reports

I was able to spend a few hours at the park today. Crowds were quite light; the line for Goliath was at the stairs or shorter the time I was at the park in the afternoon. More items to come this week.

A trip to the park is up in the air this weekend as I have to work overtime. I may try to stop buy the park for a couple hours after work Saturday and/or Sunday, weather permitting. Weather prevented a quick trip today, but thankfully we finally got some rain here in Atlanta.

Visit this weekend?

posted by Graham Brooks @ 9:38 am under Trip Reports

As of right now, I do not plan on visiting the park this weekend. The weather is not going to be great with a chance of rain and overall overcast skies due to a tropical disturbance.
