SFOG 5/27/07: Smoky Coasters

posted by Graham Brooks @ 2:50 pm under Trip Reports

Deja Vu at Six Flags Over Georgia
Deja Vu as seen through the smoke.

When I woke up this morning, I was disappointed to see smoke filling the air. However, I was not going to let that stop me from making my trip to the park. I left the Georgia Tech campus around 9:15 am, arriving at the park at 9:30. By the time I had parked and walked to the entrance, the park had opened before the 10 am stated time. I immediately headed for Goliath and waited less than five minutes for a back row ride. A good, airtime filled ride as usual. After riding, I got back in line again, this time waiting about 15 minutes for the front row. Another fun, but smoky ride. (more…)

Do you support terrorists?

  Well, I do, apparently.

Six Flags Over Georgia
Goliath soars of the park’s entrance.

As I was leaving the park this afternoon, I decided I was going to take a little video of Goliath since it is right out in front, as seen in the above photo. I took a short video clip, then was told by security personnel that photos and videos cannot be taken outside the park; they can be taken inside it only. Quite a shock to me since I have probably taken at least 75 or so the past two weekends. (more…)

Six Flags Tomorrow

I will be making a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia tomorrow. It will most likely be a big photo taking day like last weekend again as crowds should be heavy.

Scorcher and Deja Vu Photos

New Photos of Superman at SFOG

New photos of the Georgia Scorcher and Deja Vu have been added to the gallery.

And, if you did not know, the Georgia Scorcher was repainted this off season. It is once again a bright yellow. One change is that the rails were painted yellow as opposed to silver (or unpainted) as before.

Prices Soar

posted by Graham Brooks @ 11:01 am under Commentary

As you head towards the parking lot along the road in front of the entrance to the park, a sign says that general parking is $10. However, when you get to the parking toll booth, the parking attendant will tell you that the cost to park is $15… the parking rate has increased to a new high in 2007. That $15 will merely get you into the general lot; premium parking, which is closer to the main entrance gate, is yet another five dollars more. $15 will get you into premium parking at many of the other chains, and this is easily the highest rate I have encountered at any chain (more…)

Season Pass for $50?

posted by Graham Brooks @ 8:50 am under Deals

If you visit the official Six Flags Over Georgia website, it advertises a season pass as only $74.99. However, if you go to buy it, it only costs $49.99. I recently purchased my season pass and the total came out to $55 after tax and the $3 print at home fee. Add in a season parking pass for $45, and you are all set from anymore big fees on future visits. Just a heads up.
