Prices Soar

As you head towards the parking lot along the road in front of the entrance to the park, a sign says that general parking is $10. However, when you get to the parking toll booth, the parking attendant will tell you that the cost to park is $15… the parking rate has increased to a new high in 2007. That $15 will merely get you into the general lot; premium parking, which is closer to the main entrance gate, is yet another five dollars more. $15 will get you into premium parking at many of the other chains, and this is easily the highest rate I have encountered at any chain (the lowest of which is free at Holiday World, not to mention the free, unlimited drinks). If you plan to visit multiple times, you’d be stupid not to buy the season parking pass for $45.

And if you want somewhere to store your belongings while you ride, you’ll be paying $9 for a locker, albeit you can keep it for the day. You do have the option to store items in the station for some rides (will pay more attention to it on future visits, but I know for sure you can on Goliath), but you leave potentially expensive items, such as cameras, at risk for being stolen, especially when a roller coaster is operating more than one train. Fifty cent or dollar short rentals, like those at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, among other parks, sadly are not available. Just hope you have a non-rider to leave your belongings with.

But this appears to be the way the overall Six Flags company is going to get out of its financial troubles. Hopefully this will be the last of price increases or overpriced items like lockers.
