Deja Vu as seen through the smoke.
When I woke up this morning, I was disappointed to see smoke filling the air. However, I was not going to let that stop me from making my trip to the park. I left the Georgia Tech campus around 9:15 am, arriving at the park at 9:30. By the time I had parked and walked to the entrance, the park had opened before the 10 am stated time. I immediately headed for Goliath and waited less than five minutes for a back row ride. A good, airtime filled ride as usual. After riding, I got back in line again, this time waiting about 15 minutes for the front row. Another fun, but smoky ride.
I then decided to head to the back of the park since it would be pretty empty with most of the guests flocking to rides at the front of the park. I noticed Deja Vu was not open (it did open later though), so I headed to Superman: Ultimate Flight. Got an immediate ride on the second to last row. The ride is still running very good, and the pretzel loop is still one of my favorite elements. Next I headed to get a quick ride on the Great American Scream Machine, front row. GASM was running quite well and still delivering good pops of airtime.
I felt like riding Goliath again, so I got in line and waited about 20 minutes for another back row ride. Sitting in the back right seat, the ride was much bumpier than my two earlier rides. While waiting in line, I noticed that Acrophobia had begun to operate, so I headed over to it. After about a 10 minute wait, I had my first ride on the drop tower, which was also my first non-S&S Power drop tower. Fun, yet short, Acrophobia is a slight bit painful in the crotch region.
The time was now noon, and the crowds were building, so I decided to head to my car and grab my camera to take some photos. I won’t bore you with the details of that. Only other interesting event was me trying to take photos of Goliath outside the park gate. Overall, the smoke was annoying since it burned my eyes and took down the quality of my photos, but in all, it was a good day.
